In this article we will discuss about the structure of Stick Insects (Diapheromera) with the help of a diagram.

1. They are commonly called “stick insects” and are found in thick vegetations.
2. Body is elongated, resembles a walking stick and is divisible into head, thorax and order abdomen.
3. The head bears a pair of very small eyes and a pair of long antennae.
4. Thorax is composed of pro, meso, and metathorax and bears three pairs of long and slender limbs.
5. Wings greatly reduced in size or even absent in some forms.
6. Meso-thorax and meta-thorax are greatly elongated.
7. Abdomen has ten segments and the insects feed on foliage.
8. These insects present a good example of mimicry.
