5. Uredospores bright orange in colour, oval with 3-4 germ pores.

6. Teleutosori rarely formed, if formed, develop on lower surface of leaves, brown in colour.

7. Teleutosori do not burst at maturity.

8. Teleutospores brown coloured, bicelled, rounded and thickend at the apex.

9. Primary Host: Wheat Alternate Host: Muehlenbergia hugeli

10. Same as in P. graminis.

Comparison # P. Striiformis:

1. Causes yellow rust attacking the leaf lamina most severely along- with stem and ears.

2. Generally appears during January-February in Northern and Eastern states.

3. Uredosori appear on leaf sheaths and ears.

4. Uredopustules always arranged in long stripes, lemon yellow in colour, small, oval

5. Urediospores yellow coloured, nearly round with 6-10 germ pores.

6. Teleutosori confined to the lower surface of the leaf, generally yellow coloured.

7. Teleutosori do not burst at maturity.

8. Teleutospores yellow coloured, bicelled, curiform, conical at the apex.

9. Primary host: Wheat Alternate Host: Thalictrum fulvum.

10. In addition to urediniospores inoculum comes from collateral Hosts.
