i. Size:

The male is smaller than the female. Adult male is 8-11 mm long and 0.4-0.5 mm in diameter.

ii. Posterior end:

The male hookworm has its poste­rior end expanded into campanulate bursa supported by fleshy rays.

iii. Genital opening:

The rectum along with the ejaculatory duct opens posteriorly into a cloaca.

iv. Copulatory spicules:

A pair of copulatory spicules lie in a sac lateral to the ejaculatory duct which can be protracted and retracted by muscles.

Difference # Female Ancylostoma:

i. Size:

The female is larger than male. Adult female is 10-13 mm long and 0.6 mm in diameter.

ii. Posterior end:

The female has a pointed posterior end and is devoid of expanded bursa.

iii. Genital opening:

The genital opening is located at the junction of posterior end and middle third of the body.

iv. Copulatory spicules:

Absence of copulatory spicules.
