7. Scales:

Ring –link overlapping scale are present on the body

Comparison # Snakes:

Absent except Boas and Pythons where gridles and vestiges of hind limbs present.

2. Shape of the body:

Cylindrical

Short

4. Eyelids:

Immovable eyelids are present (The eyelids are always fused together and form a transparent membrane over the eye)

5. External ear opening:

Absent

6. Tongue:

A slender and deeply forked tongue is present.

7. Scales:

Arrangements, structure and numbers of scales vary in different region of the body. . Scales on the back may be smooth or keeled and on the abdomen may be broader. Scales on the head are larger and called scutes.
