With the explosion in population an attempt should be made to explore little known plant resources for food, shelter and clothing’s etc. In the arid zone of Rajasthan, Puri (1966) have indicated 700 species whereas Bhandari (1978) could collect nearly 682 species from W. Rajasthan.
Amongst them very few are known for their economic values. In this context some of the arid zone plants are listed here in the following heads such as oil-yielding, fibre and mats, timber and gum, resins, dyes and tannins etc..
