Meristematic cells have some distinctive features. They are usually isodiametric and compactly arranged without leaving intercellular spaces. Cells have dense cytoplasm, very small vacuoles and quite prominent nuclei. Plastids are in the pro-plastid stage and ergastic matters are usually absent.
